Powered Pallet Jacks and Trucks

The pallet jack can also be referred to as a pallet truck. Additionally, it may go by the name pump truck. This tool is also used to move pallets. It has front wheels mounted in the forks. When the jack is raised using hydraulic power, the forks separate from these wheels to push the load up above the floor. The pallets are not lifted any higher than they need to be lifted to clear the floor.

The powered pallet jack uses a motor to increase its load lifting capacity. Generally, the operator of the powered pallet jack will stand on a control platform when carrying the pallets from one location to another. A throttle controls forward and backward movements. A swinging handle serves for directional control. In addition to a standard braking system, many of these machines will have an instant brake switch for emergency stopping or unattended anchoring. This instant breaking switch is often referred to as a “deadman’s switch”.
